Experience: A fair amount! About 5 years, I have listing of all past characters & games at taz_means_crazy
Full Name: Victoria Elizabeth Steele
Nicknames: For the most part everyone just knows her as and calls her Tori, as that's the name she prefers to go by. Sometimes friends will use some other variation of her name, like Vicky, she doesn't really care.
Birthday: August 24, 1987
Sexual orientation: Homosexual
Relationship Status: Single
How long has he/she been active in this career?: 7 years
Appearance: Everything about Tori's style is low-key and casual. From her clothing choices, to the way she wears her hair and make-up, to her choice in accessories, to the fact that she doesn't drip in bling or wear anything that cost more then most peoples car payments. Unless there's a red carpet involved, or she's in-character, she's in a pair of skinny jeans, a tshirt, hoodie, and a pair of converse. In fact, her closet is chock full of hoodies and converses in every color. Her idea of doing/styling her hair is to run a brush through it and call it good, which generally leaves her long, slightly wavy, dark auburn hair tousled and messy looking. Add to that a few silver rings, a watch, a pair of sunglasses, and a serious amount of black eyeliner around her green eyes and you have Tori ready to go for the day. Occasionally she'll also have a small backpack or messenger bag (she only owns one or two purses) and if it's cold a leather jacket or second hoodie thrown over everything else.
As far as first impressions go, she's friendly and engaging. Fans who bump into her all have pretty much the same thing to say, Tori Steele seems almost boringly normal. She's a little awkward, sure (she never seems to know what to do with her hands and fidgets), but that sort of adds to her aura of normalcy.
Family: Vanessa Steele (41), her mom.
Personality: Despite her occasionally awkwardness, Tori seems pretty comfortable with who she is. It allows her to be honest with interviewers, probably sharing more then she's suppose to (the only time she doesn't just lay it all out on the line is if it involves the personal life of someone else), as well as engaging in friendly, though occasionally sarcastic/snarky, banter with fans and most paparazzi (even she won't deal with the assholes though). Whether it be in her personal life (alright, maybe especially in her personal life), on the set, on the red carpet, during interviews, in photoshoots/calls, or during meet and greets with the fans, she likes to joke around, tries to keep things from getting really stiff and stuffy. She can actually be pretty silly, hitching piggyback rides from friends and co-stars, as well as making faces at the camera on the red carpet. But she knows how to turn it off and get down to work when the time comes to.
In fact, Tori grew up in a single parent home, with a mother who worked her fingers to the bone to take care of and support her, it's done a lot to shape the kind of person she is now. Raised with the bare minimum, it's made her value the simple things and not take anything for granted. It's taught her that hard work is important and when she commits to something she needs to see it through and give it 100%. It's also taught her to be generous when she has more then she needs, which comes out in her need to spoil her mom, close friends, and even fans (all the free stuff they get at shows? Yeah, she gives most of it away on her website via silly contest), as well as supporting various charities and good causes.
That's not to say, however, that Tori doesn't enjoy some of the perks of being a celeb. She gets invites to big parties, club openings, and even the occasional trendy restaurant, which she usually accepts (though she rarely stays too long) and has some fun at. Her big thing, however, is concerts. If there's a big concert/music festival in town, you can almost guarantee that Tori's there, either backstage (another, and her favorite, perk) or hidden in the crowd somewhere. Other then that, she tends to keep it pretty low-key, she goes out to eat with friends or to see a movie. She does all her own grocery shopping, buys doughnuts on her way to work in the morning or walks to starbucks during breaks on set to get a coffee and treat. She hasn't really let being famous change much about her life.
While it doesn't happen very often, as she's just not that easily bothered (honestly, she's the type that finds most tabloid rumors hilarious), when Tori does actually get really upset (or even worse, angry) about something, she tends to get really quiet and kind of still. If she's actually bothered, she doesn't yell, she doesn't engage. In fact, if she can, she simply gets up and walks away. But if that's not an option, she grits her teeth and does her best to ignore you while doing her job.
Likes: 80's teen movies, action/adventure movies (especially staring girls), boy shorts, concerts, converse, girls, hugs, early mornings & late nights, interviewers who ask interesting questions, music, not carrying a purse, sci-fi movies & tv shows, second hand/thrift stores, sweets, sunglasses, tattoos, thin t-shirts, Zoë Bell
Dislikes: Awkward kissing scenes, fancy up-dos, fake eyelashes, flying, most country music (it's slow and sappy), people dissing her girl (when she has one), people who leave their phone on in the movie theater, purses, really tall high heels, snow, sushi
History: (include how the person came to be in his or her profession, around 4 paragraphs recommended)
Vanessa Steele was raised in a fairly strict home, so when it came out that she was pregnant during her senior year of high school, her parents gave her a choice. She could still live at home but she had to give up the baby, either by abortion or adoption (and while they didn't exactly say it out loud it seemed pretty clear to her they were in favor of her having an abortion and saving them all the shame/embarrassment) or she could keep the baby and get out. Needless to say, before they were home for dinner the next day she had packed all her things and was staying with a friend (to finish her last year of high school).
Vanessa got a job waitressing and saved every penny she could to get a small, crappy apartment as soon as possible (she knew they would never throw her out, but that her and Victoria being there stressed her friend's parents out). Victoria was about one when they made the big move to the tiny (there wasn't even an actual bedroom) apartment across town. Their neighbor was a sweet elderly woman, Beverly ("just call me Bev, hun), who agreed to watch Victoria so Vanessa could keep working at the diner. In payment she accepted a little cash, a little food from the diner, and her apartment being cleaned once a week. It was the latter that would lead to Vanessa's second job as a maid, during which she would bring young Tori with her, prop her in a corner with a book, a snack, and a tape player (that way Bev could/would still watch her at night).
Then came Tori's first day of school. She put on a brave face, but she was actually a little terrified. She'd never been around that many other kids before. By the end of the week though she was into it. They got to take naps, have cookies, play make believe (her favorite), color, and hear stories. As she got older and classes got harder, she found she still liked most of it. History was probably her easiest (it was all just remembering and she was great at that), math was her worst, but her favorite was english (they got to read parts for different plays, it was almost like playing make believe had been). Outside of school, Tori had a habit of climbing on everything (trees, the deck/garage/roof), which resulted in her falling and getting bruised up and spraining things a lot, and eventually, at 10, fracturing (greenstick) her right arm when she fell trying to get out of an especially tall tree she'd climbed.
The only other real bump, aside from getting detention a few times for being late to school, was when all the other girls in her class grouped together about boys. First it was all about how they had cooties, Tori didn't get it really but she went along with it not wanting to be the only girl who didn't. Then, later on, it was how cute they were, which Tori really didn't get. At least, not until a couple years later. The summer before her 14th birthday, in fact. Her mom had a rare day off, so she'd taken Tori and her best friend out for lunch and to do some shopping. During lunch, while they were talking, her friend started going on about her crush, which lead to them both asking about hers. And so, after a moment of thought, she admitted that she had a crush on a girl a year older then them. They had a few questions, and her friend was a little surprised, but all in all it was fairly uneventful.
The next year they started high school. Tori instantly fell in love with the drama club and tried out for every play. A couple months into her Sophomore year some of the older drama club members and their teacher were talking about how a soap opera was looking for some new talent and holding open casting calls. She practically raced home to tell her mom about it, and while Vanessa was a bit skeptical, she agreed Tori could try out. No one was more surprised then them when she actually got the part (though she was only allowed to take it after agreeing to stay in school and keep her grades up).
She stayed on the show for a little over a year (though it was still a small part and she wasn't in every episode or anything), the character and storyline went over better then expected. In fact, when the arc did finally wrap up, they still kept it so she could possible be worked back into the show later on down the road.
With the show wrapped (for her) only a few months into her junior year, Tori instantly rejoined the drama club and things sort of just went back to where they were before the soap. Except now she had a car (admittedly it wasn't much of one, since it was pretty banged up). And got outed, quite rudely, to the whole school after rejecting one of the less mature jocks at a party (she tried to be nice about it, explain she simply wasn't interested in dating guys). He and a few of his friends completely trashed her car, breaking the windshield, covering it paint and foul words. Instead of trying to deny it, or saying he was just being a jerk, she simply came out herself. Sure, some people reacted pourly, but most of her classmates couldn't have cared less. The GSA club helped her clean up her car (and locker, which had also been hit), which led to her joining the club herself. And later, February of her senior year, start dating one of her fellow club members, NAME. (The two even attended prom together.)
The young couple decided since they were heading to the same area (NAME for school, Tori for auditions) to just get a small apartment together. Eleven months later the couple moved out and split up. But before that happened Tori went on a boatload of auditions, finally landing a small, 2 episode, role on a teen sitcom. Which was followed by a small (she was only in the final film about 15mins total) role in a comedy a few months later. That following February she had a four episode arc on a prime time sitcom. One of the stars of the show enjoyed working with her, so when a role popped up in his new movie (a dark comedy), he mentioned her name. And just like that she had her second movie role. This one was slightly larger, she was in the final film about 35mins and she popped up in the bloopers, deleted and behind the scenes footage included in the dvd release.
A few months after it wrapped -just long enough for her to find an apartment again, since she'd just been staying with her mom for awhile- she got a small, but recurring for the whole season, guest role on a popular dramedy. And since her character wasn't in every episode, she managed to land a guest spot on another of the networks shows. The beginning of the following year found her filming a small indie horror film. She filmed for about 3 months and ended up in about 42/104mins of the movie (she played a good friend of the main character and was one of the last to die).
It wasn't very long after they'd finished up that she heard about the auditions for a new show, Rumor Mill. After finding out a bit more, she decided it caught her interest (plus a steady job sounded pretty awesome) and auditioned. She actually read for Blake Summers at first, but was asked to read for Michelle instead (they liked her look and voice). As it turns out, they were right and she got the part. She's been on the show two years now and still enjoys playing her character. She even spends off time with her co-workers, joining them for nights on the town.
