Name: Harvey Hannibal Hachette
Age/Birthdate: 20 / May 26, 1989
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Alias/Codename: The Harvester
Concept: While he may not be wearing a mask in the traditional sense, Harvey Hachette is most certainly keeping his true identity under wraps. One half of a duo intent on taking over the world, he plays the role of public face as well as being a gifted warlock in his own rights.
Faculty: Magic
Year: 3
Skills: It wouldn't be a lie to say Magic ran through the Hachette family's blood, at least the male half, and Harvey has been learning about magic since he was in diapers. The family is gifted in darker magic, though whether this is because they're actually more talented, or simply more interested and therefore spend more time practicing and learning, is nearly impossible to say.
If he can see something from across the room, he can easily call it to his hand. And while materializing things from elsewhere takes a bit more effort, it's something he's fairly good at. Likely because he's been summoning his monsters most of his life he's adapt at summoning other, small creatures as well. Darker magic tends to go over much easier then lighter magic for him, if he's trying to curse you, it's hardly worth blinking but a healing spell takes nearly double the energy/effort.
What's really special about Harvey though is his ability to harvest peoples screams and laughter, collecting the energy they generate for his own use. He does this via little monsters he summons seemingly from no where (seemingly because anytime they attempt to track where they came from they come up empty handed). He can summon them when there's a lot of screaming/laughing happening, taking advantage of the situation, or whenever he feels like, so they can run amok generating the screams/laughs for themselves. As you can imagine the monsters vary depending on which type of energy they're collecting; laughs summon generally cute, squishy sort of monsters girls tend to want plushies out of (like these but not made from clay), screams summon dark, twisted monsters with claws, teeth, and generally beady eyes.
The energy he harvest from laughter is used for light, positive magic and the scream energy for dark, negative magic. Obviously the more energy he has to put behind a magical action, the more powerful it will be. The same can be said for using the energy as a secondary fuel/energy source for the gundams. He had no part in creating the generator that harnesses the energy and works as a large battery, but he supplies it with energy. Much like with his magic, laughter energy is used for the "lighter" aspects of the mechas, aka the defensive (shields and such), scream energy for the "darker" aspects, aka the offensive (lasers, missiles and such).
Alliance: ELE, the BHH is not so keen on plans of world domination after all.
Personality: Harvey enjoys being around other people, likes parties and crowds. Outgoing and friendly, especially if you're a pretty girl (which is just about every girl), but not especially honest. Not to say he's a liar, although he can be, but more that while he appears to be open with everyone he talks to there are actually very few people who know anything of any importance. He gives away enough to keep up the open, sort of trusting facade, but nothing more then that.
Part of the reason he so enjoys crowds of people is the wide array of different opinions it provides. Walking through a party, mingling with everyone is an excellent way to get a feel for how a situation is likely to play out. While he doesn't so much go looking for it, if he happens to overhear a little bit of information that may at some point become useful, well he's happy to file it away until that point.
He's adapt at blending and fitting into any situation he may find himself in by adopting the mood. Which, as you can imagine, has allowed him to get along with people from all walks of life.
To speak more on his false face, his cool and collected facade, he also wears it to appear nicer, as if he cares about things/people which he does not. He piles all the rage and frustration he feels into a corner of his mind which he only taps into when necessary, generally in the safety of the Gundam. As the self appointed face of the duo, he feels it's important that others not be aware of just how devious they truly are. Plus while Mason may not believe they need anyone else, he doesn't see the harm in having people who owe them favors or may back them up.
It's not only rage and frustration he's capable of pushing away until a better time. Compartmentalizing is something he's gifted at. It allows him to detach himself from people, even those he genuinely likes, and situations to do what needs to be done. There are, in fact, very few people out there he would be unable to step on/over to get what he wanted. Playing dirty is not something he has an issue with, nor is manipulating a situation for his desired outcome.
He doesn't enjoy sitting around and doing nothing, isn't really the type to lounge and sleep in. Probably because both of his parents are hard workers and have always instilled that same work ethic in him. Plus he's got a restless energy and is easily bored if his mind and/or hands aren't occupied. Generally he puts said energy to good use, learning something new, practicing his magic, something along those lines. But occasionally he reverts back to grade school hijinks and the next thing you know there are little monsters running across campus.
History: The Hachette family has always had magic running through it, specifically the male half, and for as long as anyone can remember they've used this magic for less then noble pursuits. However it's really only important to go back two generations, starting with Hamish Hachette, grandfather to Harvey.
Hamish Hachette was born in France, however by his late teens, after his mother died in a mysterious accident, he and his father found themselves in Italy. While his father would stay there for the rest of his life, Hamish was already itching to get out and find somewhere he really fit. Plans to leave were momentarily derailed by a beautiful woman who quickly found herself with child. The couple soon wed and stuck around Italy for a few years after the birth of their son. Finally, in the early 70's, Hamish made his big move. All the way to Neopolis, where he quickly found friends among the villains of the city. Before long he was joining the ranks of the ELE and making a name for himself.
Despite having been born and living the first few years of his life in another country, Neopolis is and will always be Howard Hachette's home. Not long after the family moved Adélie lost her life in a tragic boating accident, leaving young Howard to be raised solely by his father. He got the best magical teachings he could have possibly wanted, raised among fellow ELE children. While he loved his magic, as a teen Howard found himself somewhat bored, searching for something he could do both with his magic and his hands. A neighbor was remodeling his home, which caught young Howard's interest. At first helping out only occupied his hands, but before long he'd figured out how to use his magic to help too.
Jennifer Reid was born in Brooklyn, New York, where she probably would have lived her whole life, not really interested or aware of Neopolis and all it's supers, had she not been exposed to a chemical in her mid-teens. Just a couple months after the accident and she was able to look through walls, see through peoples skin, etc. Needless to say such a change was fairly shocking for someone who'd never experienced anything even close before. It didn't take her parents long to realize their daughter needed a specialized sort of help to deal and like any decent parents would have done, they moved across the country to Neopolis. Neither of her parents allowed themselves to get sucked into the strange politics of this new city, but despite being sent to neutral schools, she met and fell into the darker crowd and was pulled into the ELE.
Jennifer and Howard met at a party, but wouldn't become an item until a few years later. He was still working small time construction, she was trying to find a career that would make her parents happy since they were fairly disappointed with her alignment choices. She went into real estate, which is in the end how they became closer. One of the first homes she ever put on market was, to say kindly, a fixer-uper, and a friend of a friend suggested she give him a call. Before they knew it the two of them had fixed up and sold five houses together and were planning more. Striking out on their own, opening a business was just logical. A few months into their new business arrangement there were obvious sparks, but they ignored them for almost a year before giving in.
At first they were going to just leave it at that, but the sparks were more like a wildfire at this point and they couldn't seem to stay away. Before long Jennifer was pregnant with Harvey and with a little pressure from her parents, who had long since moved back to New York, the two were wed.
As a toddler Harvey spent quite a bit of time with his grandfather, who'd taken it upon himself to start teaching him about magic as soon as possible. Still wading around in his diapers, barely able to talk, but he was plenty old enough to learn about black magic in the old man's mind. Because his parents, despite loving their son very much, had no interest in slowing down their agency they hired a nanny to take care of their son when they were working. And because Neopolis is so used to catering to the unique individuals who live there, she was also a gifted witch who was able to teach him while she watched him. He was about six when he realized he could purposely summon little monsters anytime he wanted.
As his family was aligned firmly in the ELE, Harvey went to the ELE grade schools, then the ELE middle schools. He was a good student with good grades, but if we're being honest, he was also a bit of a brat. If he was especially bored in class he might summon other students pencils to himself or if he decided he didn't like another student, for whatever reason, he would summon his little monsters to attack them for his amusement. Seeing Harvey in detention for this very reason was not uncommon.
It was, in fact, during one of these detention sessions that he actually met his future partner in crime, Mason. Despite having gone to school with her for many years already he really only knew her as the girl, with mousy brown hair, he occasionally tried to scare the crap out of. It was probably a safe guess to say the two had already had detention together before, but it was that afternoon Harvey took the time to actually pay attention to what she was doing, drawing a gundam, and it caught his interest. While he hadn't grown up attached to the same shows she had, he had seen enough to know in that moment that he wanted to be in control of one of those suits. In school things didn't seem to change, if you weren't paying close attention you'd never notice anything, but after school the two started spending time together, working on the suits.
Unsurprisingly when high school rolled around he went to Fenris. Unfortunately Mason didn't accompany him, but after school he spent most of his time with her. If there was nothing for him to actually do, then he'd work on his homework while she worked on her latest gundam design. The two also participated in the street fights, but less because they actually cared and more because it was an excellent opportunity to test out the suits and possibly gain some allies. And whenever possible he drug her along to parties, trying to expand her social skills. While he hadn't grown out of it completely, he was less likely to summon little monsters during the school day, more interested in flirting with pretty girls. The only real upset was the death of his grandfather in his junior year. But only to a small extend as the family had sort of been expecting it for a few years already.
With graduation finally behind them the two headed to Tokyo to truly test out their designs. But things went a little differently then anticipated and the duo found themselves back in Neopolis working on a new plan. For Harvey Insidious was, of course, the next logical step. While confidant in his ability, there's always more to learn, plus the Tokyo incident had left him a tiny bit unsure. The school was more challenging then Fenris, plus he found himself spending a little more time at parties, with girls, new friends and less with Mason, plotting to take over the world. Not that his ambition had shifted in the least, he just knew they weren't quite ready and didn't feel the need to rush it.
The announcement of the trade schools closing and Neopolis opening came with the expected mixed feelings. On one hand it would certainly be an interesting experience, with the best resources available, and a new influx of pretty girls. Plus it was the perfect opportunity to get him and Mason at the same school once again. On the downside BHH dicks sharing his breathing space.

fun questions!
Aspirations: To take over the world with Mason, obviously. But a secondary goal is to join the ranks of the ELE, just to hold up family tradition.
What would be the title of the comic book starring your character? Harvesting Screams
